What I Miss About Radio

What I Miss About Radio

What I Miss About Radio

It's been 3 years - THREE. YEARS! - since Dave and I left Pure Country 93. Can you believe that!? It seems like a lifetime ago now, but also feels just like yesterday.

There were lots of reasons why I, personally, chose to leave. The main one being that my voiceover business (Voiced by Rachel) was taking off and I was able to support myself and not wake up at 3am anymore!

But I knew there would be many things I'd miss, including:

1. All of you! When we decided to start this podcast, I was so thrilled that any of you followed us here and stayed! I have worked in both radio and television and the reason I love radio so much is the immediate connection with the audience. It's a two-way conversation, in real time, and connecting with other people is what I thrive on. I've learned so much from all of you over the years: different opinions and viewpoints have made me much more open-minded, even when we disagree. Knowing many of you go through the same things I do as a woman, parent, wife, daughter, sister and friend is invaluable. That authentic connection is what keeps us in each other's lives.

2. The FUN! Oh gosh, radio is so. much. fun. Dave, Forman and I had a great time every morning. I never once dreaded going into work! I was so sorry to see Forman go because 1/3 of the fun had left. I knew I would miss it once Dave and I parted ways too. We played, made up silly games and contests, performed our Helium Theatre, Name that Bird sounds and sang so many musical numbers I lost count! Thanks to this podcast, we still get to do it weekly.

3. Having coworkers. Yes, radio is fun and the three of us love working together but going into an office is something you don't know you'll miss until it's gone. For me, anyway. I love having my own business now, but I do miss the social aspect of working in an office and simply making small talk (or more) with my coworkers. It can be lonely when you work alone every day, all day.

All of this to say, I'm so grateful to you for listening to us. Maybe it's Imposter Syndrome, but I'm always surprised that so many of you do. I'm even more surprised when anyone remembers us from the radio days. We're trying to grow this pod as much as we can, and please know, we're so thrilled that you're here with us! Thank You.

With Love,

Rachel
